KlutchJa Organics began in 2019 with Sheldon Cardoza making soaps in his Mandeville kitchen. The business has since grown into a Jamaican skincare, haircare and ingredients company, with Sheldon and Shanika Cardoza bringing different skills to its daily work.
A local beginning
Sheldon’s background in chemistry helped shape his interest in making personal-care products. The early soap-making work became a business with a physical home: KlutchJa incorporated in February 2021 and opened a storefront in Mandeville.
Today, the range brings together finished products for everyday routines and ingredients for other makers. That combination is part of the company’s identity. Some customers arrive looking for a bar of soap or a hair oil; others need supplies for their own work.
The people behind the products
Sheldon is the founder and Chief Executive Officer, with responsibilities that include product development and formulation. Shanika is Chief Operating Officer and Company Secretary, with a role across operations, production, marketing and logistics. Our full story introduces both founders and the milestones along the way.
Recognition and continued development
A Television Jamaica feature followed in 2022. In August 2023, KlutchJa became one of three winners at the Mandeville leg of the MSME Business Roadshow Pitch Competition. You can read the Jamaica Information Service report.
GEMINI support through JBDC helped the company invest in BSJ testing. Laboratory testing and selected label approvals are different parts of that work: neither should be read as blanket certification of every product. Our testing and label-assessment page explains the scope.
